s0479 Posted October 6, 2018 Author #79 Share Posted October 6, 2018 Malta Day 2 - We had 11:00 tickets to see Hypogeum. They only allow 10 people in every hour and I booked my tickets in February. It was very interesting what people built 5000-6000 years ago. No pictures allowed though. We took a taxi from the port and the bus back. The bus was 2 Euros and very easy. We took the bus to Valletta and just walked around and had lunch. We walked back the bus and were about 500 feet from boarding when major thunderstorm! Almost made it!! The food was so so, desserts were good! Sent from my iPhone using Forums
s0479 Posted October 6, 2018 Author #80 Share Posted October 6, 2018 Catania - well it was supposed to be! We woke up the captain telling us a little before 7:00 that our berth was no longer available and we were now tendered in Syracuse! We had a food tour in Catania scheduled at 10:00 so we had to rush to tender, take the free shuttle and then walk to the meeting point. Made it with seconds to spare! The tour was very nice but Catania wasn’t my favorite city. Sent from my iPhone using Forums

s0479 Posted October 7, 2018 Author #83 Share Posted October 7, 2018 Syracuse- we got lucky and got to the shuttle right when it was leaving for Syracuse. We decided to go ahead and walk around the town since we were there. Thoroughly enjoyed the little time we had in the town - would recommend! s0479 Posted October 7, 2018 Author #84 Share Posted October 7, 2018 This was the fancy dinner night and we decided to go. The food on the trip overall was good. Some stuff so so , some really good, some fine - can only think of one thing that I really didn’t like so I would call it a success! s0479 Posted October 7, 2018 Author #85 Share Posted October 7, 2018 Our last port :(. It’s amazing how fast something you planned for 20 months goes! We’ve been to Naples And Capri so decided we wanted to see Sorrento. At first we were going to take ferry over and do tour but then decided to do a Celebrity tour - our only one on this trip. It was an Amalfi coast boat tour with lunch and afternoon in Sorrento. I’m still not sure if I should have gone with my original plan. The boat tour was very nice we lucked out with the weather until later in the day. The town of Amalfi was very nice and we had a quick tour there and a little free time. s0479 Posted October 7, 2018 Author #86 Share Posted October 7, 2018 Naples port continued- After the boat tour we took a bus to Sorrento- weather was still pretty good. There were a lot of ships in port so lots of folks. We had a relatively good lunch - same for everyone. I was enjoying my coffee and went for a bathroom break and when I got back everyone was leaving to go for a “factory” tour. I was a bit irritated as I hadn’t finished my wine or coffee. Also the description of the tour didn’t mention anything about any “factory” tours and we ended up doing two, which took about an hour out of our day. Not long after the tour the skies opened up and it just poured for about 30 minutes! We lived Sorrento and wished we had more time there. s0479 Posted October 7, 2018 Author #87 Share Posted October 7, 2018 For our last dinner we had originally booked Tuscan Grille as that was our favorite on our prior cruise. I must say while we enjoyed it this time it didn’t seem to wow us like it did last time. We had a few items we wanted to try at Qsine and we enjoy the quirkiness of it so we went there. So glad we did - a very enjoyable evening! Very good spring rolls and sauce Disco Shrimp - very tasty - my daughter isn’t a big shrimp fan but liked this Soups and soufflé- we very much liked this one. This was the M House I think - 13 different Mediterranean dishes - very good! Second pic is all of the items Tacos and make your own guacamole Sent from my iPhone using Forums
s0479 Posted October 7, 2018 Author #88 Share Posted October 7, 2018 Qsine continued We made sure to let them know we wanted only one of each item- if you let them just run with it you will just have way to much food!! And for dessert! Chocolate bomb - which wasn’t what I expected and just so so And beignets and apple fritters - which were good! We had decided to reserve a car with two other couples at 7:30 because my daughter had a 11:15 flight. So to bed soon after dinner. We didn’t put our luggage out and were going to carry it off on our own. Sent from my iPhone using Forums
s0479 Posted October 7, 2018 Author #89 Share Posted October 7, 2018 The end had arrived - we woke up early in Civitavecchia. Went up to the buffet for a quick breakfast around 6:30 ish and it was a mad house. Started to carry off our luggage slightly before 7 and the elevators were a madhouse! My mom waited but my daughter and how trudged down the stairs! Disembarking was very quick and easy and our driver met us just off the ship just before 7:30. The drive was quick and my daughter made it on her flight and is on her way home. My mom and I continued onto Florence from the FCO train station - I’ll continue with the “after trip”. Three generations- we had an awesome time and glad we are able to travel together!! If you have any questions please let me know and I’ll try and answer. s0479 Posted October 7, 2018 Author #90 Share Posted October 7, 2018 Onto Florence - After making sure my daughter got to her flight ok, we went to the train station. A quick 10 or so minute walk across from Terminal 3. Boarding was quick and easy, hardly anyone on the train. Boy did that change in Rome! I’ve taken trains in Spain, England, Belgium and France and this by far was the craziest one! People trying to find room for luggage and correct seats...so glad we got on when we did!! Soon we were in Florence and took a quick taxi ride to our hotel. We were fortunate and got an upgrade with a huge terrace. We are staying at the Sina Villa Medici and so far it’s been great! We had a late lunch by the pool in the gardens and I worked out for a bit in the gym. The gym is basic and has what you need but I don’t understand why places keep there workout areas so darn hot! We are doing a food tour tomorrow! Sent from my iPhone using Forums
