Mimibaloo Posted October 8, 2018 #1 Share Posted October 8, 2018 (edited) Can anyone share any experience on cruising during the winter out of New Jersey for New Years? We are leaving Dec 29 2018 for an 8 day to the Bahamas on RC Anthem. This will be the first time doing a cruise that isn’t out of a warm weather port and am getting a little nervous after reading some reviews about this ship. leaveitallbehind Posted October 8, 2018 #2 Share Posted October 8, 2018 We've done a Christmas cruise from Bayonne and while it was cold at sail away, by 1;00 PM the next day as we were off the coast of the Carolina's it was very nice and we could fully enjoy the outdoors. Similarly with the return - only late in the last day did it get cold again. But there are no guarantee's and you are subject to the prevailing weather overall for Florida and the Bahamas for that time of year.
Jenjer Posted October 8, 2018 #3 Share Posted October 8, 2018 Anthem was designed to sail in cold weather ports. So many activities are inside even if its cold outside you wont be bored. Some people complain that they actually felt to separated with the outdoors. Specifically the Solarium and 2nd indoor family pool. There is also the Sea plex. That has lots of sports/fun activities think bumper cars, trapeze school, x box room, basketball. Its always busy and all inside. It will be cold the first day and the last day but hopefully by afternoon day 2 things will have warmed up. We loved Quantum so much we had to sail Anthem and she did not disappoint. Lots of Anthem tips on the Royal Caribbean board.
Mimibaloo Posted October 9, 2018 Author #4 Share Posted October 9, 2018 Thank you both for your experience, exactly what I was looking for. Can you tell me if they do something for the holiday evenings..special dinner or anything? We know there is a Chops NYE dinner for $80 that we were considering unless we don’t need to?
