Celebrity Blue Chip Sapphire Beverage Package

Anyone who's Sapphire have any luck getting them to just upgrade you to Premium beverage package if your reservation already came with a Classic package? The 1 free classic package is a useless benefit if you already get it. 

 

I heard of someone last year who got it without even asking but when I ask Blue Chip, they say No. 

 

There's a 30% sale on the upgrade. Wondering if I should buy it now or "roll the dice" on getting it for free from the casino on board.

I think it all depends on the host and how many sapphires are on board.  We did luck out with the upgrade in September but I think there were only about 3 Sapphire/Ruby on board the sailing.  Plus it was shortly after the new Blue Chip rules rolled out and I think the hosts were receiving a lot of pushback about all the lost perks so they were more inclined to do you a favor.
