Land & Sea Tour--Worth it?

We are DIY for the land portion.  We are traveling with our 4 children, though, and the price difference would be astronomical.  We are flying into Anchorage and planning about a week exploring Denali up to Fairbanks possibly via RV since you can basically pull over anywhere along the route to sleep.  We hope to do the 11-12 Denali bus tour as well.  We will then sail southbound to Vancouver and would like to spend several days exploring Jasper/Banff/Glacier National Park and flying home from Great Falls or Billings or we might explore the Pacific NW and fly home from Seattle.  We plan to take about 3 weeks to do all of this, though.

We also did an 8 night DIY for our land portion and so glad we did.  We did have some specific things we had to be at in certain times, but many times as we were driving, we saw something that interested us, and we pulled in.  Even for the two of us, we saved probably close to 1500 by doing it on our own.

We went from Anchorage to Fairbanks and back to Anchorage before our cruise and did many things along the way.  I would do the same thing again if we ever go back.
