Cozumel - hike or trip to ruins?

Hi there, I'm new here and taking my first cruise in a couple weeks.

At Cozumel, Mexico, there are many options for excursions. I am a big fan of Ancient american civilizations and was planning on taking the tour of the tulum ruins. But, I am 14 weeks pregnant and I don't know how strenuous the traveling is. The other option I am looking at is the hike, which supposedly takes you to a mayan temple and is only 3hrs, instead of 7. How much do you see on the hike vs. the trip to the ruins and do you have time for a swim at the ruins?

Thanks so much! icon_razz.gif

Hi Katie,

I can't give you any info about a hike, etc., to the ruins, but can tell you from my experience that the tour took a couple of hours to get there with stops along the way. We did not have time to swim afterwards as the tour took around 7-8 hours.

Mayan Ruins is a 7 hour tour. thas because it takes 2 hours to get there and 2 hours to get back. You spend 2 hours total in the field. Its an awesome place. You can do as much walking as you want,. The weather isnt that hot where I am sure you can manage it. Look at the pictures and you will see the ground is flat. Wear comfortable shoes.

I havent been to the San Gervasio ones. But since you like that kindof stuff I am sure you will love the Tulum tour.

When you arrive at Tulum, there will be awalk that is about one half of a mile to the ruins. You will find that there is also a tram you can ride to the site. The ruins are grouped in one area. It is well worth the visit. As one poster said, there will be time for a quick dip in the ocean as there is a beach there. You won't have much time for the swim. It is a beutiful view from the cliff.

I have lived in Florida for close to 40 years. I am rarely uncomfortably hot. We did the interior Mayan ruins. (I can't spell it but it sounds like chicken pizza). I was hot hot hot that day. Tulum can also get pretty warm, but it is near the water. The excursion is shorter. You will get a taste of ruins without ruining you day. You can always do the big ruins later, when you are not pregnant.

Work like a dog. Live like a pauper. Save all your money. Then Cruise!
