Mtngirl2 Posted January 11, 2019 #1 Share Posted January 11, 2019 We will be in Yokohama this summer before a cruise. Are there any cultural shows in the city (traditional dance, puppets, etc) that anyone has attended, or venues that I might look into? Thanks! Tara Jane Posted January 15, 2019 #2 Share Posted January 15, 2019 I can't advise in Yokohama but if you are going on diamond princess they have had cultural activities/shows while on board the ship during the 3 cruises we have done in Japan. They take a lot of effort to blend the cultures with many fun activities too.
Mtngirl2 Posted January 15, 2019 Author #3 Share Posted January 15, 2019 Thank you, but we will be on a different cruise. I have been doing further research and have found some performances in Tokyo (classical dance, erc).
Tara Jane Posted January 15, 2019 #4 Share Posted January 15, 2019 Good to hear you found something. I have been to one in the Gion area of Kyoto and enjoyed the show.
Shiprin Posted January 15, 2019 #5 Share Posted January 15, 2019 Hey! If you're in Yokohama, you're actually surprisingly close to Tokyo. I've lived in Tokyo for a while and the main kabuki shows are here. You can definitely make a day trip out of catching the train to Tokyo and back to where you're staying in Yokohama. Otherwise, if you really want to stay in Yokohama, maybe check and see if there are any local festivals on?
