DanFromSyd Posted January 18, 2006 #4 Share Posted January 18, 2006 Hi everyone!! Thanks to everyone for the welcome back!! Im back and feeling ok... although I have decided that cruising is a drug.. It gives you a feeling of elation and hapiness and when you hit the dock in Sydney and they tell you to get off you feel the downside. So I'm "coming down" today. there is so much to tell but I want to write a full on review so it may take a day or so. But in short, it was fantastic, eveything we wanted and more... and only a couple of very minor complaints (which I refuse to dwell on and really only made a slight difference to an otherwise fantastic holiday). strawberrypatch11 Posted January 18, 2006 #7 Share Posted January 18, 2006 So you really can't bring on alcohol onto the ship? In the current brochure and on the website it says you can bring on one bottle of wine or champaigne. P&O should update the website!! :p I would like to sneak on alcohol. Too afraid to get caught!!! It's a little disappointing about the alcohol, not that it cuts the cost down much of drinks. :( Just lovely to think of having a nice glass of wine in your room.. Are they that strict that it would be impossible to sneak alcohol on? Even if it was disguised in water bottles etc? Just curious. Not sure if I would though. Not worth the hassle of getting caught.

kaseyoz Posted January 18, 2006 Author #14 Share Posted January 18, 2006 I think she was also referring to "OZ" the night club on the Sun and not "oz" the country, although maybe I am wrong!!!:D :D
luvvin_u_2 Posted January 18, 2006 #15 Share Posted January 18, 2006 lol yep im underage.. an yep oz the night club.. in the end it was just a game 2 sh*t the security guards.. 10 nights is way too short! next time it will be a 14 night cruise (prob 2, 7 night cruises) or i'll just have to see the regal princess's itinerary.. Kazza1 Posted January 18, 2006 #16 Share Posted January 18, 2006 Hi Dan Just wondering what sort of transport your brother used to get to the ship from Newcastle? Im looking into some now. Thanks Dan Kazza

I do find this attitude immature and that's what happened on our trip with some of the passengers, but then they got put off at Port Vila so our corridor was very quiet after that. And, it wasn't me who complained, it was a heap of other people. Think of other passengers, please. Why would you want to s*** off the security people anyway? Okay, now I wait to be flamed.

DanFromSyd Posted January 19, 2006 #19 Share Posted January 19, 2006 Hi DanJust wondering what sort of transport your brother used to get to the ship from Newcastle? Im looking into some now. Thanks Dan Kazza Hey Kazza, Brad drove to my place in Sydney and stayed there the night before the cruise and we got a lift to the terminal with our brother-in-law and came home in a cab. I did hear that Parking was available at the novatel for $10 a day. not bad seeing as our cab ride home yesterday was $85. Dan

suey Posted January 19, 2006 #22 Share Posted January 19, 2006 Dan please do tell us about your little complaints even though for me the good always far outweighs the bad. Sometimes it is better to be forewarned - like the 'no kids dinner' this still is hard for me to believe even after sitting in a restaurant with some very badly behaved and ill-mannered children for the last ten nights, although they were not all bad and some of the adults are as bad!!:)
DanFromSyd Posted January 19, 2006 #23 Share Posted January 19, 2006 Hey Suey, Im writing my review at the moment but its getting a bit long i think. I dont know if everyone wanst to hear all the details day by day... So hear is a quick run down. My tiny complaints..... Dinner. We asked for a table of 8-10. We got a 4. We were seated with a couple the same age as me. It was fine in the end. By the 2nd night we were having a ball! I wouldnt have changed tables for anything. But we were expecting a big table. We were also late out every night. We had 8.30 start and didnt get out most nights to 10.15pm even if we co-ordinated the courses we would eat. We skipped the soups most nights. This made it really hard to get to the shows. at 10.15pm. The show lounge Apparently it seats 700. But we struggled to get a seat at any of the shows. Either people were double dipping (seeing it twice) or the first sitting passengers were going to the late one instead on the first one. So be it... We didnt mind. Noumea We docked their on a Sunday. and everything was closed... This seemed really stupid to me as P&O know this and still schedule the only city port we had on a Sunday.. Oh well life goes on. Tenders! Umm the only thing I will say is that I now have a system and during any future cruises I do i will do it my way. Thats it. Nothing really fazed me about any little problem we had. The good things far out numbered the bad and so hear are the good things. THE GOOD THINGS!! Excellent, friendly staff. One of the Bar staff remembered me from the Skt in 2004 and I thought that was cool. He even remembered what I drank. You gotta love that! All of the staff went out of their way to make sure we had a good time. I loved Trivia, we went to every trivia session and even recruited specialists for certain catergories. By the last day we had more team memebers then we could fit on the lounges, it was a great morning get together on sea days and a great afternoon catchup on everyday. I loved the Gazebo bar. I have read that smoke is a problem for people hear. But either im used to it (i dont smoke) or its better then it used to be. This was a great place to sit and read or listen to my Ipod in fact I spent a lot of time hear. I loved Terraces it was great during the day if the Gazebo was full, but the bar wasnt open during the day. The food in the dinning room was awesome. The themed nights were great. Breakfast and lunch in the buffet was fantastic, so much better then the sky. the pools are small, but they have been on every ship I've seen. The waterslide did seem to attract every kid on the ship. But hey it keeps them out of trouble. There were always plenty of chairs available and i didnt notice anyone hogging them. Everytime i wanted to sit up on deck i found a spot. Everytime i wanted to sit indoors i found a spot. If you want to eat at the buffet at peak times you will have to sit with people.. This is life and a great way to meet more people. All of the tables are big tables and seat 6 or 8. so if there are only 2 or 3 people at one ask to join them. No one ever says no. But its nice and polite to ask first. Never once did i feel bored or claustraphobic. The night time parties are great. Island night was great and so were the two formal nights. I think my quick run down is getting a it long.. so ill finish here. If anyone has any specific questions im happy to answer them. Cheers, Dan
Skyrules Posted January 19, 2006 #24 Share Posted January 19, 2006 ........Most nights to 10.15pm even if we co-ordinated the courses we would eat. We skipped the soups most nights. This made it really hard to get to the shows. at 10.15pm. Dan, we had exactly the same experience on Pacific Sun, being in the later of the 2nd sittings - most nights found us making a dash from one end of the ship to the other to get to the show lounge in time for the second show. Still I suppose it was a bit of excercise after dinner, and we certainly needed that :)
