Tipping & currency advice for cruise in Europe

We use the excess 1 and 2 Euro coins for tips to the great guys that deliver our in cabin breakfasts every morning.  I asked, and they have no problems exchanging the Euro coins at the cruise end.   It gets applied to their crew credit accounts.
