Can my 14 and 18 year old girls join in the teen thing on Fascination?

We are travelin in May on Fascination. Everything I read about Carnival's ten programs list 12-15. This amazes me! Our girls are very close and usually spend most of their vacation together. This year it is that much more important to our 14 year old since her sister will be leaving for college in the Fall. Can anyone fill me in on activities they can do together (organized or not). I certinally don't want either of them in the adult bars or clubs onboard. Thanks!

Although I don't have teens yet, I do remember on my two cruises that a lot of the teens met on the first night when Camp Carnival had their organized teen meet and greet. The Cruise Critic people we met had teens and that's what they did. They quickly made friends and didn't do any Camp activities, but rather, layed out by the pool together, hung out late on the lido deck at night for pizza and sat with each other at the shows. They seemed to have a good time. But, if it's time together that they want, then what a better place than on the cruise. You as a family will enjoy each other's company on the wonderfull shore excursions. They'll probably meet other teens on the excursions. The two of them can buddy up for breakfast together on the lido deck while you and hubby enjoy breakfast in the room or the dining room. I wouldn't worry at all about them being bored especially since you said they are close.

I found that at about 14 or 15, the kids aren't all that interested in organized "Camp" activities and have a tendency to do their own thing. As Southern Sailor said, meeting the first night usually sets things up for friendships during the cruise week. I would be surprised if your girls felt like they were "missing out", even without participating in the "organized" activities. I have also noticed that the older kids activities are less structured and this should work fine for them.
We are also on the Fascination, May 3 with my 16 and 12 yo boys and my (almost) 4 yo daughter. When are you on the Fascination in May?

TNT1981, I was just on the Fascination in February. You are going to have a great time! I would not worry about the teens. As was said above, they will find plenty to do even without participating in Camp Carnival. There is a link to my Fascination review below. We were on the four day to Key West and Cozumel. We were all disappointed in the teen programs! There is a program for 16-18 from 10-11:30. It was a dance but only 7 kids showed up and they just sat around. There is also a program for 12-14 year olds and it is very juvenile. Our girls tried both on the first night and never went back. They wanted to be together and their ages also seperated them. So they hung out at the pool most of the time. We had hoped they would meet other kids and do some things they might not get another chance to try. RCCL seemed much more extensive and organized.

This is very important information for your girls. There will be a teen meeting the first night. It is very important they attend this meeting. They can see all the kids that areonboard the cruise for that week. Kids this age only tend to hang out a lot eating pizza and swimming..mostly chatting and having a good time. Kids this age also have a tendency to forming clicks...so it may be harder to get involved later in the week. This is why is is very important they attend that first meeting. Even if they dont want to go-- force the issue-- they will thank you later.
