Is there a charge just to get off the ship and onto the island? My aunt thinks there is a charge for that.  She just wants to walk around and explore.

No charge to get off ship.  They only charge if you want to go into the adventure water park.  Son just got back and said they have plenty of free stuff.  They spent their time at the huge pool.
