kyrisong1 Posted June 21, 2019 #1 Share Posted June 21, 2019 Hi everyone, I'm taking my 83 yr old mother and my sister who has a seriously bad back on a cruise, we are stopping in Costa Maya, my favorite place is Maya Chan which we can't do since my sisters back could never take that bumpy road, is there anything there that would be a nice beach without going down that terrible road? Or is there a place that has lots of shopping and places to eat that wouldn't be too far or dangerous for us to be out on our own? Any help is appreciated, I've never thought of going anywhere but Maya Chan here since they are so awesome ❤️ Thanks!!
Rare crewsweeper Posted June 21, 2019 #2 Share Posted June 21, 2019 For shopping, you best bet is the cruise port, unfortunately. Very tiny beach, mediocre food, high priced drinks, so-so service at restaurant/bars. The road from the port to the malecon is not bumpy. So any place along the malecon might work. I think taxis are now $8 RT pp. Same total price if you take the tram. I would suggest Pitaya or Pez Quadro with your elderly mom. Both tend to be less crowded and have palapas or mesh awnings over loungers. Blue Kay is a possible option but you're best taking a taxi and you need to leave the cruise port to do so, just like for Maya Chan. Here's a couple of links for these places so you can get an idea. https://www.pitayabeachclub.com/ https://www.pezquadrocostamaya.com/ https://www.bluekaymahahual.com/en/day-pass-2/
