RHDZ Posted August 3, 2019 #1 Share Posted August 3, 2019 We are staying at the Sydney Harbour Marriot. We want to rent a car for the day and go to the Blue Mountains. It doesn't look like there are car rentals within walking distance from hotel, is this correct? Or should we take a guided tour? Recommendations? All recommendations are appreciated! GradUT Posted August 3, 2019 #2 Share Posted August 3, 2019 There’s an Avis office on Pitt Street, just a 20-minute walk from your hotel and a Hertz office on William Street just a couple minutes further walk (where I have rented cars in the past). If you don’t want to drive, you can take the train to Katoomba and then walk to the sights or use the Blue Mountains Explorer HO/HO Bus to get around. And there are a number of guided bus tours as well, several of which make a stop at Featherdale Wildlife Park too.

As suggested in the earlier post, the easiest way is to take the train from central station in the morning and then hop on hop off bus around to the key sites at the Blue Mountains. We did that and had a great experience.
RHDZ Posted August 3, 2019 Author #4 Share Posted August 3, 2019 Thank you both for your advice. I will research the train from central station.
iancal Posted August 4, 2019 #5 Share Posted August 4, 2019 (edited) I also did the train and the hop on hop off. It worked well. Nice day out. Edited August 4, 2019 by iancal
