Just back from a fabulous week on the NCL SuperStar Libra on it's Aegean Highlights cruise - visiting Valletta (Malta), Santorini (Greece), Istanbul (Turkey) and Izmir (Turkey).

Wonderful crew and excursions - any questions from would be cruisers on the SS.Libra, we will be obliged to assist if possible.

Cheers. James:)

James I am very happy that your cruise was great for you. As we said in another thread, the Libra is not like the Virgo, but nonetheless a nice ship.

So, are you thinking of booking another cruise?;)

Regards,

Mike

Hi Mike,

Yes, the Libra although smaller and older than the Virgo is just as nice and offered the same facilities as Virgo. The ship's crew (mainly from Philippines, India and Malaysia) were all very friendly, helpful and chatty. Several nights we spent chatting with them into the early hours, in the Blue Lagoon or the Saffron dining area, after the ship's evening shows were over. Showtimes mainly starts late at 10:00pm.

Only complain was the tightness of the shower cubicle of the cabin's bathroom.

An extract of our cruise journal posted on another thread is below :-

''Our pre-Freedom cruise to ancient Greece and Turkey was just Awesome!

We were the last passengers to board the ship at 9:30pm and the ship promptly sailed at 11:00pm. Phew - just made it in time for a week of pampering and good food (Western and Eastern) and plenty of exciting excursions to see the ancient world. Ship was not full and crew were fantastic and extremely friendly. Even had our photo taken with the ship's captain on Gala night.

The 'must see places' at the Ports that we docked are just beautiful and historically interesting, we made many full day excursions to :-

Santorini (Greece) ~ Oia village and Fira town by cable car.

Istanbul (Turkey) ~ St.Sophia, Topkapi palace,Blue mosque,Golden Horn and shopping in Grand Bazaar.

Missed the Istanbul terrorist bombs by a day! as we sailed off to Izmir.

Izmir (Turkey) ~ House of Virgin Mary, ancient city of Ephesus.

Malta ~ Medina silent city,Blue Grotto, Haga Qim 6000 years old temples, St.Johns church, famous Marsacala fishing village.''

This is the first year that Star Cruises sails in the Med.and quite a lot of pax.from the Far East (Malaysians and Singaporeans), flew into Malta and Istanbul to join the ship. The majority of the paxs.were Maltese and they are very friendly people. There were about 2 dozens Brits.on our sailing.

I gather from an officer that bookings are picking up for next Summer too.

We are looking into the Libra sailing to Greece and Egypt next June or Sept.07 - a great chance to see the Pyramids.;)

Best regards.

James:)
