Bananas27 Posted August 20, 2019 #1 Share Posted August 20, 2019 We plan on getting to Horseshoe Bay early via the shuttle and leave by noon. What is the easiest way to get to Hamilton from there and how do we get back to the ship? This is our first visit to Bermuda-very excited!

Sounds like time will be of the essence so best bet will be hiring a taxi. You can either hail one at Horseshoe (there are almost always a taxi for hire) or if there isn't for some reason you can use an app called Hitch to bring one to you. Either way you aren't going to have a ton of time. If you leave at noon you can plan on being in Hamilton by 12:30 at the earliest. If you are leaving at 4pm your all aboard call will most likely be 3:30. There is a 3:15pm ferry from Hamilton to the Dockyard but it takes 20 minutes-- most likely putting you beyond the last aboard call. The ferry before that is 1:30pm-- not leaving you a ton of time in Hamilton. You could always take another taxi from Hamilton to the Dockyard but you would be buying yourself minutes in extra time and it would cost a lot more than the ferry. Bananas27 Posted August 20, 2019 Author #3 Share Posted August 20, 2019 Thanks for your reply-that sounds stressful! Maybe we should skip Hamilton and do something else? Any suggestions? We arrive the day before in the late afternoon and we are taking a sunset cruise from the Dockyard and plan to shop there before the cruise and then checkout the nightlife at the Dockyard after the cruise. We are beach people so we feel obligated to go to Horseshoe the next morning.

I would flip things around-- go to Hamilton the day you arrive and spend time in the Dockyard prior to the ship sailing on the second day for shopping. You aren't missing anything in the "nightlife" department at the Dockyard the first night and most shops in the Dockyard close around 5pm anyway. Theres a handful of restaurants and bars in the Dockyard that cater to the cruise ships, the most notable being the Frog and Onion. For the most part these are just tourist places-- I think much better options are in Hamilton for going out that night that at least have a little local flavor. Bananas27 Posted August 23, 2019 Author #5 Share Posted August 23, 2019 That's a great idea but I already booked the sunset catamaran cruise for the first night. I wish we were there a bit longer. Maybe next year!
