Pre Cruise Miami Hotels?

There are several hotels near the pier and Bayside Marketplace that you might find more than acceptable. Hyatt Regency Downtown Miami, Intercontinental, Marriott Biscayne Bay, and others. The Holiday Inn across from Bayside Marketplace, while perhaps not a 4* hotel, gets pretty good reviews on these boards and may be worth looking at. We are booked at the Hyatt next October before our Freedom cruise and were able to secure it through Priceline for $115 a night.

But we just spent 5 nights at the Fontainebleu in their new tower. We booked through an internet deal. Room was huge, and the pool area was great. Also, the Fontainebleu is close to South Beach - great dining and shopping.

We were originally a little concerned as some of the reviews, esp. for the older part of the hotel, weren't that great, but they are remodeling the whole place, and we thought it was very nice.

Enjoy your trip!

Also, try booking through the cruiseline directly. We booked the Doubletree for 2 nights pre-cruise, and paid only $133 per night through the cruiseline. Doubletree is a 4 star. And that price includes tax. Cheaper at that price than the Holiday Inn. Why don't more people book through the cruiseline? Its really cheap and great hotels.

Hyatt Regency Downtown and the Intercontinental on Chopin Plaza are the two closest 4 properties.

I've stayed in both.

Cruiseline hotels are quoted per person per night. Cruiseline hotels are not cheap and the cruiselines charge more than going rates for the hotels.

Actually the Doubletree is considered a 4 star, and is MUCH nicer than the Hyatt. And the going rate for when we were going to be there on any other website, including the doubletree website, was $200 a night not including tax. We got it for $133 INCLUDING tax. Sounds like they are cheap to me. They had a good amount of options, and all were CHEAPER than the going rate. It was quoted to me as $133 per person total for 2 night. Not per night. And when finished booking, our total charge was $266 for the 2 night. That is more than $150 cheaper than I could have gotten it anywhere else.

Just to clarify, when booking it asks you how many nights pre or post, and you select the amount of nights. Then it gives you a per person rate for the amount of nights you selected. Try doing a mock booking and you will see it is cheaper than you thought!

Do you know if the Hyatt or Doubletree Grand is within walking distance of Bayside Marketplace? We have stayed at HI, but are looking for something different.

The Intercontinental Chopin Plaza is within walking distance. It's a great hotel with nice amenities. Make sure you stipulate Chopin Plaza as there is an Intercontinental at the airport. You do not want that one. Request a room on the port side and you will see your ship in port on the morning of departure. There is a nice waterfront promenade to walk from the hotel to Bayside Marketplace. There are always a lot of people walking around and we felt it was a safe area.
