cruiseryder Posted October 17, 2019 #1 Share Posted October 17, 2019 We have visited Guadeloupe a number of times and docked in Pointe a Pitre or anchored off Deshaies. We are on a cruise next March which is docking in Basseterre. We usually like to spend a couple of hours on a beach but I can’t seem to find any info about anything nearby. Can anyone advise please? prairiesailor Posted April 13, 2023 #2 Share Posted April 13, 2023 I believe that Basseterre is in St Kitts & nit Guadeloupe.
janchor Posted April 20, 2023 #3 Share Posted April 20, 2023 In this case, everyone is correct. Guadeloupe is basically two islands, Basse Terre and Grande Terre, the first being flatter and more developed and the second more mountainous! And Basseterre is a town on St Kitts. mcmarya Posted July 15, 2023 #4 Share Posted July 15, 2023 I think you may have that backwards. Basseterre, the city, is located on Basse Terre island which is green and mountainous. It is the location of the Soufriere volcano which you can hike. When we were there a few years ago, there were young women who were studying tourism in school. They were not allowed to receive payment for their services but would do tours where you just paid the taxi driver. That's how we did the volcano hike but there were other options. Who knows what is available these days but the volcano hike was doable for senior citizens like us but not easy.
