Hotel Rooms for Alaska CruiseTour

Hi there!  We are looking at doing the Family Tundra Express CruiseTour (9B), and we are currently booked in a 2BR Owners Suite on Radiance of the Seas.  We are a party of 6.   As is customary with a party of our size, the agent put 4 of us on one reservation, and the other 2 are on the linked reservation in the same cabin.  My question is whether we would be given two hotel rooms on the land portion as well.  The phone agent wasn't able to get me an answer in regards to whether they would try and cram all of us into one room, or if we would be assigned multiple rooms on the tour.  Do any of you have experience with this or know how Royal handles it?  Thank to so much for any insights!

We took that same land tour in 2018, and I cannot imagine them trying to squeeze 6 people into one room.  Unfortunately, I am not sure the TA or RCI reps will be much help.  You might be better off calling the hotels direct to see how they handle similar situations.  If you want to learn more about this specific tour, check out my review.

Do you pay the same price for the landtour for guests 3 and 4 as you do guests 1 and 2 or is it at a reduced rate the same as the cruise.

If you are paying the same rate then I would expect that all rooms should be issued on a double occupancy basis and that you should get 3 rooms as you have 6 people.

Good idea!  And yes, your review is actually what tipped us off to that tour.  We have been very hesitant to do a land tour with young children, but this one seems specifically geared toward kids.

Ah!  Great catch.  I did the math comparing the two bookings, and you're right.  The land tour increased all 6 of our fares by the exact same dollar amount, even though the people 3 through 6 have a significantly reduced fare for the cruise booking.

I thought that may be the case.  You should absolutely have the right to expect to get 3 rooms.
