Port Everglades Princess Terminal 2 - Uber Lyft pick up

Last year, when I used Uber, they picked me up by the circle in front of the terminal. There is a loot of traffic there but the driver called me as he approached the terminal and I told him to flash his headlights so I could spot him. He did and I was able to talk him into where I was standing.

With the new construction between terminals 2 & 4, that circle area is no longer available for the ride-shares to use; too bad as that was MUCH easier. (awe most recently disembarked terminal 2 on 1/4/20)

Now, you wait out front of the terminal, at the curb, for ride-shares...you and just about everyone else!! DH and I split up to increase our chances of finding our driver: I stayed with the luggage and he walked down toward where the vehicles were entering the garage to look for the make/model/color of the car we were expecting. Of course, this becomes more difficult when Uber/Lyft changes your driver on the fly!!

Another problem is that Florida doesn’t require front license plates, necessitating looking at both front & back of cars fitting the description...all this while navigating the crowds, bags, cars, busses, carts, police, etc., etc.

But being patient and keeping a cordial attitude helps a lot. Know that you might get ditched by a driver, who will say you weren’t at the pick-up area, and will charge you a $5 ‘no show’ fee...an aggravation for certain that you can either challenge or consider a part of the possible cost of using ride share. Though we’ve been charged as ‘no shows’ when we were in exactly the right place, we will continue to use a ride share: it’s all part of the adventure of travel!!
