Royal Suite Independence of the Seas

Recommended Posts

Tried to search but didn't find much on this.  My family and I are staying in the Royal Suite in May and I was looking for people's experiences on this room.  We have been in suites on Oasis Class ships and know there are different perks then other ships.  What interests me is being escorted on the ship.  Do they take us from the waiting area of the terminal  just take to the gangway or directly to our room or dining venue (we will be arriving at the terminal around 10:30)?  There is no free wifi correct?  (Kind of a bummer and don't understand why).  Did you feel like you got even more personalized attention then the other suites would get?  Also, is there any activities that are in the room for young kids?  My daughters are 4 and 5; thinking of like coloring books, jigsaw puzzles or cards.  If not, can we ask for stuff like that.  Finally, the suite seating for the Windjammer is in the specialty restaurants, but can you still use the buffet or only the table served menu for the restaurant and is it for breakfast and lunch or only breakfast.  Thank you in advance for all you help.

You will find that your experience outside of star class with dedicated Genies varies not only ship to ship...but sailing to sailing (as the concierge changes)

I've sailed in the Royal Twice

First time....Got to the port, parked, went through security, checked in, I got on the ship, went had lunch, got to room when it became available, and about 4pm the Concierge stopped by and said hi

Second time....the concierge called me a week out, then called me while I was in route to make sure of my ETA, met me in the parking lot, escorted is through security/check in, walked us directly to our room at 10:15 AM

Same ship....4 months apart, different concierge.  Since then we have only sailed on Star...but we are back on this boat in 53 days...so will be interesting what level of service we get 😉

Overall on the second sailing....Concierge was almost Genie like....met us every morning in Chops for breakfast, made all our dinner arrangements, helped us off the ship first in ports.  Breakfast (sit down) in Chops was awesome every morning and we enjoy it over windjammer.  After the first day, they know what you like and have it ready almost immediately.

And yeah...without Star Class....Beverages, Dining, and Wifi is not included.

Thank you very much for your reply.  I certainly hope for the later level of attention.  Not that I am looking to be waited on hand and foot, but we are in the best room of the ship ( only because the prices was great).  If you remember, can you let me know how it goes for you.  We leave May 11 so I would think it may be the same concierge, but who knows.  Did you ever ask the concierge for stuff that was not included in the suite perks and did they deliver?
