cabin choice

We have booked a northbound cruise on the RSSC Mariner and took one of the few starboard rooms left. I notice now when looking at the deck plan that it is near the elevator, about one door down from it. I could have a port side room in a better location; mid ship, and away from the elevator. Which should I choose? Both cabins are identical and have balconies. Thanks.

If you are actually in the Inside Passage, you will have land on both sides, so port is as good as starboard. If you are in the open ocean or Gulf of Alaska, land will be starboard. However, I don't know how far off land the ship stays in the Gulf (plus it is night for most of the trip). I guess you would have to decide between the noise of the elevator and the chances of more land views. Of course, you do get the sunsets on the port side....
