augie Posted February 10, 2006 #2 Share Posted February 10, 2006 How is the scuba diving there? In a word - good. You can read my review of the diving in all of the ports we called on recently, including Costa Maya on my thread on this board linked here: http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=289474

cmdchiefthom Posted February 14, 2006 #4 Share Posted February 14, 2006 Costa Maya diving really depends on the winds. There isn't any real break in the coastline to shelter the coast if the winds are blowing up from the southeast, (bad) due south, worse, or from the southwest, (not as bad), north or no winds, (perfect). It really depends on the day you dive there, especially on a cruise ship. You have to remember, Costa Maya is a created port with no natural harbor, on an exposed coastline. You can have perfect days, and not so perfect days. Divers should plan accordingly, when there arrive there. It's also been my experience that the dive operations there can be great to absolutely primative! Check, before you book!;)
