judyf Posted May 4, 2004 #1 Share Posted May 4, 2004 I've been searching for a cruise to take from now till when school starts here in Sept. I need to get in another vacation before I start the routine again for fall and winter. There's only certain weeks I can take between now and then due to job requirements. What I found going out of the NYC area so there's no air involved was a RCCL ship Voyager of the Sea, May 21st to Ocho Rios, Grand Caymen and Grand Bahama Island. I remember reading a few posters here had this ship listed as one they have been on. Can you tell me anything I should know? The difference between CCL & RCCL? It's so close in time I don't have a lot of time to search so I thought I would get a jump on things by asking my friends here!!!!!! Thanks for any info on RCCL and the ports. ILov2cruise Posted May 4, 2004 #3 Share Posted May 4, 2004 For the same price I like the Carnival Legend. Food on Carnival I thought was better and the cabins on Carnival are bigger. Ports on RCCL are ok. I didn t care for freeport and I like the ports better on the Carnival Legend. The only thing I don't care for on either ship is the 4 sea days, but when leaving from NYC you can't help that. I see the VOS is listed as 5 stars and the Legend as 4.5, not much of a difference. I'd go Carnival.
serene56 Posted May 4, 2004 #4 Share Posted May 4, 2004 Since you already sailed Carnival you owe it to yourself to try out the Voyager and see the differences yourself. I didnt see much difference in the two cruise lines in the way of food or service. The pizza is better on Carnival though. And free burgers are on Carnival. But on the VOyager you can catch a night time Ice skating show that was simply fabulous. Their night gala buffet was too good too pass up no matter how full I already was. The choc covered fruit...oh mi. Let us know what you decided. http://joephila.net/cruise/ Going NOWHERE Miracle, February 13, 2005 Legend, October 22,2004 Voyager August 31,2003 Victory September 22,2002 Regal Empress,June 2001 Sensation,August 2000
judyf Posted May 4, 2004 Author #5 Share Posted May 4, 2004 I did it! I just booked the RCCL Voyager of the Seas for 9 days leaving NJ on may 21st!!!! I looked at the Legend and many other ships and the price at the time was much higher for the Legend. Right now on Buycruises the Voyager is way more then the Legend so I guess I booked at the right time for once! I've already been to all the ports the Legends goes too plus I get an extra day 9 days instead of 8 and 4 ports instead of 3 and still 4 days at sea. Date was inporatant to me too only a few weeks I could play with at work to get off. I had to reschedule meetings and I will have 2 1/2 very, very busy weeks at work but it will be worth it to have 6 days off from work!! Yeah. Plus the Sunday we reyurn I'm off Monday for the holiday so I can relax before going back to work. I'm also looking forward to trying something new. Any other tips or advice? Cruising89143 Posted May 4, 2004 #6 Share Posted May 4, 2004 Congrats Judy. I too am stepping away from Carnival to try a Voyager class ship. For me it was to get a change of pace from Carnival. That should be a great cruise with it sailing out of New York plus those nine long days to relax and soak up some caribbean sun. serene56 Posted May 5, 2004 #7 Share Posted May 5, 2004 Congrats Judy: Now when you get back you can compare the ships with us. (but dont do it while onboard) Maybe when the time comes you can check out a person for me to see if he is still working there. Its been a while since i heard from him. Cyt4SoreEyes Posted May 5, 2004 #8 Share Posted May 5, 2004 Congrats JudyF..I think yu will enjoy the Voyager..she is one of my Favorite ships..Of course I haven't been on her in awhile so not sure how her up keep has been. You are going to be amazed at the size of her and the room to roam on the promenade is wondeful..never felt crowded as like on the Carnival ships and alot more secret hideaways on the Voyager to enjoy and relax. Also the shows they do on the Promenade area are really cool as well..just like dancin in the streets in N.O. on Mardie Gras. Also the Show room is gonna really blow your mind she is huge!!!!!!!! Ok I could go on and on...Have a wonderful Cruise Judy..can't wait to hear your review when ya get back..like to know if the Voyager still has what it takes to make a wonderful cruise. onevacationlover Posted May 7, 2004 #11 Share Posted May 7, 2004 We cruised on Voyager last June. We absolutely loved it!!! I KNOW you will have a wonderful time. I booked Carnival this year, the prices on the Voyager ships this year are ridiculous from SC. I was able to book a cabin on Truimph for the price of an interior of the RCCL Navigator. 6/5/04 - Carnival Truimph - 6/1/03 - RCCL - Voyager 4/03 - Carnival - Fascination
Mar Posted May 7, 2004 #12 Share Posted May 7, 2004 Enjoy! You WILL find things a bit different on a differnt line but it's a GOOD thing! We have sailed around on several lines and LOVED our cruise on Adventurer of the Seas-sister to Voyager but also love Carnival and others as well. Each cruise line and each ship has something special to offer and it's up to US to find it on each.
