Rare AussieBoyTX Posted August 11, 2021 #1 Share Posted August 11, 2021 (edited) I'm sure many of you are aware that as of August 1, 2021, Venice finally banned large cruise ships from the Giudecca Canal (city center), effectively eliminating the Venice sail away past St. Mark's Square that most cruisers remember. This impacts ships that are over 25,000 gross registered tons, longer than 590 feet and taller than 115 feet. With the exception of Commandant Charcot, all Ponant ships and Paul Gauguin are below the limit, ensuring they can still sail from Venice as usual. The other major cruise line with ships that meet the criteria is Silversea. And basically all river cruise ships meet the criteria as well.
