Fixed dining time in MDR. Want to eat at Ocean Cafe 2 nights

Hello, haven’t been cruising for 20 years. High time to make up for it. 🙂 I was wondering if you need to notify the MDR steward ahead of time if you plan on dining instead at the Ocean Cafe when you have a fixed dinner time in the MDR?

When you have traditional dining and you know you will not be dining in the MDR on a specific night, it is a good and courteous practice to tell them the night before that you won’t be there the next night. And this is especially so if you are sharing a table with others, so that the servers know not to wait for you to start serving the meal.

That is what I thought as it appears they also have PAX with anytime dining. I would not want them waiting when there is seating available. And I don’t want the servers to have any confusion. Thank you!

On the M and S class ships (we haven’t sailed on Edge class), the folks with Select (“anytime”) dining eat in a different area (indeed, on a different deck) of the MDR than the folks with traditional dining.
