Different VIFP rates with same status

This random pricing is very discouraging. I am not booking because I can't get the same price as my sister who doesn't spend more onboard, doesn't gamble at all, etc. It just feels bad to be excluded for randomness.

Six of us like to cruise together.  We all went on a cruise together last March. We are looking at a Panorama cruise in February.

I want to handle the bookings for everyone, but it doesn't seem fair when two of the six have been offered a rate 40% lower than all the others. I don't want to quote different rates for different people. It's like when parents play favorites. All of the kids are resentful of it.

I understand if the casino gives players better rates. There is a reason for that and I don't mind not getting those offers. However the six of us are roughly equal.

Yuck.

Yep! I agree. We have only taken one bounce back offer. It was back in 2019 BC (before covid) and we didn't have another cruise booked. The offer was for a free "Ocean View" room and some other stuff I don't remember. But we had never been at the back of the boat and never been lower than deck 7 so we decided to do it for the experience.

Man! It was the experience of a lifetime. If we were not in a devil may care, try something wild frame of mind we could have complained a lot. But with our mood we ended up laughing our butts off.

One thing I will never forget. I like to sleep late. The ships come into ports long before I wake up. Well the "Ocean View" room was apparently just above the stern side thruster. At our first port I was shocked out of bed at an ungodly hour as the entire room began to shake (things actually shook off the counter top) and there was a loud rumbling. Ah! those were the days...

Been there done that, in fact this year on Sunshine. I was in one of the last rooms on deck 1 at the far aft of the ship. Every time we came into or left port, let's just say my wife and I were first to know. At least we had no problems getting up on time to get off the ship on debarkation day...

Back on topic though - Carnival seems to be implementing pricing similar to airlines and other industries where the price you see depends on an algorithm. Your onboard spend, how many times you've visited the site without booking, casino status, moon cycle - who knows what all feeds into the offers you receive. But it's something my wife and I are cognizant of, we always check both of our accounts before booking to see who has the better offer.
