  1. People are under the false assumption that if they throw money around people will fawn over them. Tip extra if you feel the service you get warrants it, or if you feel the service is sub-par and you need to tip extra to get good service. Each to their own. I don't care. But I don't like the air of superiority that these threads always have.

  8. That article just says what the map shows - that Starlink is not yet available in Singapore.
  9. Absolutely - the prices today are good for today. Buy it today if you are sure you'll want it for your cruise. In fact, pre-buy everything you'll want. Excursions, gratuities, etc., because everything will be much more expensive next year. Carnival hikes prices every few months lately.
  10. Only shows coverage over land, not the sea - so while you can sort of infer coverage (or lack thereof) you can't be sure. However, if we are going by that map - there is currently no coverage in Singapore, but there is in AUS. I wonder if Splendor is equipped with Starlink antennas, and if so how do they deal with gaps in coverage.

  12. Nobody knows. Carnival is not in charge of cleaning up the harbor so they have no control over it. You could try asking "the government" but if Carnival isn't getting firm dates out of them, what makes you think anyone else can?
  13. I don't know if Starlink has made it to that area of the globe yet. Assuming it hasn't, presumably they'd still be using the older satellite network which is not great.

  15. By the book yes it is true but in practice it is not enforced. I basically wear pajamas 24/7 on Carnival these days and sometimes I am overdressed in the MDR.
  16. They raise prices literally every few months. It's meaningless to ask about prices now unless you cruise in the next few weeks.
  17. I can't believe it's already time for another two minutes' hate for people who don't add extra tip to their receipts.

If they're doing that when the buffet is closed, imagine what they're doing when it's open...blech...some people will devolve to apes for a tray of Freezer Queen quality food as long as it's free and unlimited. They say we are 9 missed meals from anarchy - on Carnival, it's more like 9 minutes.
  19. I agree, it is sad and horrifying when I think that I was right there with them not long ago (gorging myself endlessly, eating just to eat). I'm more aware now.

The beauty of a pooled system like the Cheers gratuities is all bartenders share in that tip so yes the amount of gratuity that individual bartender got for making your drink is quite small, but they got the same percentage from everyone else onboard who bought Cheers so it all comes out in the wash.
  21. Your normal keyboard doesn't have a USB dongle, it only works over Bluetooth? Mine too. It's maddening when I have to boot into BIOS and find ye olde wired keyboard. I ended up switching to a keyboard and mouse that used a USB dongle - as far as BIOS knows, they're wired peripherals.

  24. Yes, the breakfast at Cantina is great for sure. Buffet is not in my experience.
