madera1 Posted January 26, 2022 #1 Share Posted January 26, 2022 We will be sailing out of a port near Venice but are staying a few nights in a hotel in Venice prior to embarking. We will need to obtain a negative test prior to boarding and wonder if locals can advise if the airport or other clinic near city center offer these tests? Rare Hlitner Posted January 26, 2022 #2 Share Posted January 26, 2022 You can do your own search at Find COVID-19 Test Centre Locations in Italy - faiuntestevai I would offer a little advice having done my share of International travel (including Europe) in the past year. Testing centers and the rules are always changing so you should do your homework relatively close to your travel date. In Europe we have found it easier to find testing sites then in our own home town in the USA. Even after you have done your "homework" it is always wise to ask the Concierge or Desk Clerk at your hotel (do it when you check-in) to confirm your info is accurate and find out if there is even a more convenient location closer to your hotel. You also need to be careful to make sure you get the type test required for your flight/destination. If your destination is the USA you also have the option of purchasing proctored home tests before you leave home and take them along on your trip. As long as you have a decent Internet connection you can take these proctored tests anywhere in the world and their results are acceptable for USA travel (this can change at any time so you do want to keep up with changing rules). We also like to have a "Plan B" or backup plan. So, for example, when we were traveling in Greece we knew we could get a low cost antigen test on the island of Paros (from where we were heading to Athens and the airport). But if that test site turned out not to be open or working our backup plan was to get tested at the airport testing site (we stayed at a nearby hotel the night before our flight). For Canadians and Europeans it is more difficult because they generally need a PCR test but even this can be arranged (although it is more expensive). 14ersco Posted January 28, 2022 #3 Share Posted January 28, 2022 (edited) Last fall in Europe we found the websites for the airports and each cities visitor center had links to local testing centers. Also since you are in Venice for a few days keep your eyes open and looking for sites. There seemed to be many pop-up sites around major public areas, like train stations and concert halls. In Vienna we already we already had our Plan A and Plan B, but we noticed on a side street that a new branch of our Plan A testing site company had a special for free antigen tests. We didn't need the test that day so just dropped a point on Google maps to get back to this location. Came back a few days later and got our free test, and results within an hour. We found this is the best site for all that is going on in Europe in regards to COVID-19: https://reopen.europa.eu/en Edited January 28, 2022 by 14ersco
