Butler service

I’m due to cruise on msc soon , we are in yacht club, I know gratuities are paid , how much extra do we give the butler .

YC is a bit difficult.  You do have a butler, Jr butler.  You may sit at same table at night or not.  In lounge you'll have great staff that may rotate.

 

By pool, you'll have many different folks you interact with.

 

Before our first trip, website said none needed.  On our last five trips, we just figure out who made our trip special and went above and beyond.  Butler may or may not fall into that category.  At the end of the day, up to you.

We always take with us small gifts (usually Australian souvenirs, flag pins etc.) and give these to staff as well as cash for the butler & his assistant. Maybe a few Scottish items, we find this is a lot more personal and appreciated. Restaurant staff were particularly proud of their Australian pins and would wear them every night when serving us (including the maitre 'd).

Because of the number of "Butlers" who will serve you, it's really a guest's discretion as to whom deserves an additional gratuity.  I gave an additional gratuity to the YC's Maitre d's (Luis and Arthur) because they served me well.  An equal gratuity amount was given to my suite's Butler and the Assistant Butler.  

 

Particularly in the YC Restaurant, there are too many who serve a guest to recognize each one of them.
