We've never been to Seattle but are leaving on a cruise to Alaska on 7/5.  Need a good place to stay for a couple days to sightsee and watch the fireworks.  Close to port would be awesome 🙂  We aren't fancy but need super clean and safe area.  Just booking cruise tomorrow so just starting to plan.  Also, if you have been on a Alaska cruise tell me what we must see PLEASE !!  We are stopping at Tracy Arm Fjord, Sitka, Juneau, Ketchikan, and Victoria, BC.

Thanks in advance 🙂

Mary

I usually recommend staying downtown but you’ve got a great opportunity to be near the fireworks by staying in the South Lake Union area. Both the Residence Inn and Courtyard Marriott are great locations for viewing.  Even if you didn’t have waterside rooms that would allow you to watch from your room, you can just walk across the street. The Residence is on the street car route and the Courtyard is a couple blocks. It can take you the short tide to downtown.

The Lake Union Silver Cloud is another excellent option.  It's a quality regional chain.  Home - Seattle Lake Union (silvercloud.com)

Nope. Fifty bucks or so from the airport to the hotels, Uber will probably be higher. 2.5-3 miles from the hotels mentioned to Smith Cove Pier 91 cruise terminal, a $15-20 Uber ride. You should also consider looking on Trip Advisor where specific downtown hotels are mentioned often.

You can search any of these hotels by including “south lake union” when mapping the hotel.

I have a feeling others will jump in here to give you some more ideas before long.

We were there 2 weeks ago and loved the Belltown Inn on Bell and 3rd Avenue. It was very reasonably priced, super clean and great staff. We used the Light rail and it was cheap and very efficient. In Alaska, you absolutely MUST SEE Glacier Bay National Park, it was the highlight of our cruise. Ketchikan was a nice little village, with shops (and ancient brothels on Creek Street!). We found a nice shop (Weavers) and bought a pair of one of a kind, hand made russian tapestry boots. Juneau was a bit bigger of a town, bald eagles all over the mountain where the cable car ran (we didn't take it).  Also, we did a whale watching tour in Juneau on Auk Bay - it was cold in mid May!! But we did see a whale or two, such elusive creatures, but it's not guaranteed!
