halos Posted May 17, 2004 #3 Share Posted May 17, 2004 WOW!! I watched the first hour of that program, and was very sorry I missed the last half. I made the huge mistake of switching to the Sopranos, which was an extremely odd epsiode and I should have skipped it and stayed with the Queen Mary documentary on the Discovery Channel. I hope they re-run it. ralmyers Posted May 17, 2004 #6 Share Posted May 17, 2004 Sounds good! Maybe they will show it again. Sopranos is on about 4 times a week, so it is not too bad if I miss it on Sunday night :-) I know it is never the same as seeing it on the intended night, but still an awesome show. Now.... I did watch that show on Discovery Channel last week about the Bermuda triangle and the methane gas. NICE... What was I thinking? halos Posted May 17, 2004 #7 Share Posted May 17, 2004 ralmyers! Are you serious, you watched a Bermuda traingle program before sailing??? What is the methane gas reference? I am very curious!!! ralmyers Posted May 17, 2004 #8 Share Posted May 17, 2004 Halos -- The reason I even started watching it is because my DH has a special interest in the Bermuda Triangle incident with the 5 Navy Avengers that went out and disappeared. His Grandpa is a retired Navy captain and was on that search mission for the avengers -- never found them! Well I am sure that you know the strange phenomenon regarding ships and planes disappearing in the Bermuda triangle. "They" have been trying to figure out for years why this happens and where these vessels go! One theory is that within the Bermuda triangle there are many pockets of earth which produce methane gas bubbles, supposedly they can sink ships and cause engine failure in planes. You would need to watch the show. I am normally a perpetual skeptic about everything, and I need PROOF on just about anything anyone claims. This show was pretty convincing if you ask me. But then again... I also believe that if it is my time to die, then it just is. Now I am not planning to speed that along with some sort of crazy activity, but if a methane gas bubble sinks my ship, then I guess I was supposed to die that way. You really gotta watch it -- very interesting IMHO. halos Posted May 17, 2004 #9 Share Posted May 17, 2004 Oh Poo.... I always liked the UFO theory!!! Besides, if it was something causing ships to sink, wouldn't someone have found the sunken ships and downed planes by now????? ralmyers Posted May 17, 2004 #12 Share Posted May 17, 2004 Me too -- I especially like it when they "prove" something to me. Then I am totally convinced! On this particular show they sank a small fishing boat, shut down an Avenger engine, did preliminary testing at U of M on sinking tankers and ships in their aquatics lab, then they did a flight simulation on a boeing (I think) with the idea of what input of methane gas would do the the plane. It made the controls act crazy, and according to all controls they were heading up, and plane was actually going down. They also denoted spacial disorientation that occured with the pilots. Keep an eye out-- they will show it again. Or... maybe it is a sasquatch (sp?) flying a UFO to meet the lochness monster in the Bermuda Triangle. he hehehehehehe Triumph <IMG SRC="http://escati.linkopp.net/cgi-bin/countdown.cgi?trgb=000000&srgb=00ff00&prgb=800080&cdt=2004;5;22;16;00;00 &timezone=GMT-0500"> Fantasy - 94 Imagination - 95 Ecstasy - 99 (honeymoon) Triumph - 04 (5 year anniv.) halos Posted May 17, 2004 #13 Share Posted May 17, 2004 Sounds like an explanation...but why haven't they found any of the ships that have been lost?? Is the ocean too deep there or something?? Did they mention this on the show?? I really need to watch it!! ralmyers Posted May 17, 2004 #14 Share Posted May 17, 2004 Halos -- I am not sure why they have not found the ships or planes. They have found a few, but not many. Something about the geological shelf layers deteriorating and basically "sucking" them in. Who knows!!!! There are things that are not meant to be known I guess.
