jwh Posted July 12, 2022 #1 Share Posted July 12, 2022 What currency is used on board? I presume $US but wondering if it changes for cruises solely in Europe or Australia/NZ etc? Appreciate your response and very much looking forward to our first SS cruise.
Rare jtm1 Posted July 12, 2022 #2 Share Posted July 12, 2022 US Dollars are the currency on board regardless of the destination.

Rothko1 Posted July 12, 2022 #4 Share Posted July 12, 2022 US dollars onboard. The last cruise I went on we flew to Vancouver to embark for the trip to Alaska, and since we were basically going to Alaska and the ship takes dollars, I didn't think to get any Canadian currency. Of course, right as I'm talking to the bellman at the Vancouver hotel it occurs to me that I don't have any local currency to tip him with. He seemed happy to get US dollars. But the lesson is, remember that even though you are going onto a US dollar ship, you might still need a little bit of local currency if you are starting or ending in a foreign country, or doing day excursions. cruisr Posted July 12, 2022 #5 Share Posted July 12, 2022 I have never had anyone decline USD as a tip anywhere in the 150+ countries i have visited. Canadians love USD as they get more value when they get tipped USD vs CAD.
