November 1 - religious and business holiday

We will be docked at Civitavecchia on November 1, which is a holiday in Italy.  We do not plan on going to Rome, but we are thinking of Orvieto via private car.  Would cathedral and restaurants be open?  Any suggestions for excursions (not Rome) from this port on the holiday?  Thanks

Restaurants will be open. Because it is a religious holiday the cathedral will certainly be open. They will have additional masses like on a Sunday.  Just be insconspicuous when you go in or wait until services are over.
