I would agree that the area itself has made us rethink staying at the Renaissance in January and spending more to stay in the beach area.   It’s a shame too as we loved to do our morning walk and then sit outside the bagel place and enjoy our pre-cruise coffee and tea.

We are at Marriott Beach Towers (or something like <)
We've always done 17th street area and now we're adding an extra sun/beach day at this location.
Pretty sure we'll opt for Italian but could be seafood 🙂
Either way..   We enjoy the ride 🙂

Are there any good restaurants or cafes close by that serve breakfast?   If there are long lines for the Embassy Suite breakfast, I would just as soon go someplace and buy breakfast - if it's good.       Thanky.

We stayed at the Renaissance in April and walked to Einstein's Bagel.  Very enjoyable and that was all we needed before a week of dining onboard.

We usually eat at Boatyard which is very close to the Renaissance Hotel but may check out Bistro Mezzaluna in December.  Renaissance is a good location to shopping, restaurants and water taxi but their rooms are rather plain.  We had stayed at the Hilton Marina in the past but found it to be unorganized.  The food and staff at their outdoor bar were poor(the bar inside is no longer there).  The restaurant near the Hilton called Grille 66 was excellent but it no longer there.

Times change and we just have to move on.
