How is legislation on Passenger Vessel Service Act doing?

I remember that about a year ago legislation was introduced to do away with the requirement for ships on US cruises to make a Canadian or Mexican port stop before returning to US.  Does anyone know if this legislation is still progressing?

There was a one time change passed so Alaska cruises could happen last year with Canada's ports closed. That exception has expired.

I remember that but this was for a permanent change and was introduced last September:

 

U.S. Senator Lisa Murkowski (R-AK) announced on Wednesday she will introduce a new bill to Congress that would permanently allow foreign flagged cruise ships to sail to Alaska without having to stop in Canada by creating a permanent exemption from the Passenger Vessel Services Act (PVSA).

Sitting in committee along with 507 other bills.  I'm just a bill, yes I'm only a bill, and I'm sitting here on capital hill.

Think I'll give her office and call and email too.  Maybe if more people did that it would be more likely to get some action.

She's in a tight race... so this may just be for appearances more than a viable bill.

 

That said, I hope there's support from both sides of the aisle to move this.
