Taste and smell are powerful senses that most of us don't understand that well. Plus our assumptions and what we see (visuals) have a big impact on our perceptions of taste and smell.

 

Two examples - ask someone who's done dark-glass tastings how hard it is to tell the difference between red and white wines - it is quite difficult for most people, which seems hard to believe and yet is true.Or, watch at the next 'country fair' how many people get the match-the-spice activity 100% correct - hint, not many.
