Any chance we can get a tour of ship?

Is there any chance of getting a personal tour of the ships engine rooms, bridge and workings?
My husband is a motor head and would love to check things out. Do they do that kind of stuff? That for him, would be the ultimate experience. (he still brags about the mercruiser engine he put in his vintage Camero)

For insurance reasons, you can't take a tour of the Engine Room. You might be able to take a tour of the Bridge. While I don't recall ever seeing it in the Capers, one has been available on about half of the cruises I've been on. Same goes for a tour of the Galley.

Any Idea how I find out about those? Is it a special request I make before embarkation?

I believe many ships no longer allow tours of the Bridge-at least the ones we have been on since 9/11. We did a Bridge Tour before and it was very interesting. Anyone do one recently?

Galley tours yes, bridge tours no.

Perhaps something else as well. Watch this space.

The only tours available these days are the ship tour right after early embarkation, and the galley tour, which lets you see 10,000 meals being prepared a day! I missed both of those on my Elation cruise last week.

Hmmmm. I think I read in Cruise Travel magazine last year that Bridge Tours were no longer allowed (since 911). I WAS reading a Carnival article, so don't know about other ships.

Engine rooms, I wouldn't think so, safety factor, y'know.

As far as the Galley Tours, some are great, some are not. There is no set time, but it will be announced in the "Capers" (daily newsletter delivered to your cabin).

At one time, Paradise had a "virtual" engine room and bridge tour on video. They ran it in the main show lounge. I found it quite interesting, but it didn't seem to be very well-attended.

Thanks everyone. I think the virtual tour would be great if they still did it. I'll call Carnival, maybe they have a rental version or something. Thank you for all the help. Theresa
P.S. My hubby is a Big Lake Minnesota man, maybe it's a Minnesota thing.LOL

Last June on the Legend, there was no physical Bridge Tour but there was a Galley Tour. The Video about the ship that ran on TV included a tour of the Bridge and Engine Room.
