What to do in St Maarten(private tour guide info)

Recommended Posts

We'll Be in St Maarten from 9:00am to 6pm. What woould be a good itenarary if you've never been there before. We would like to go on a sightseeing tour of both sides of the island and take in a little shopping and if have time get in a beach.

The beach isn't that big of a deal but really wanted to see both sides of the island and shop. Is there an independent tour guide that one can recommend? Are there taxis & private tour guides waiting right outside of where the ship docks to take individuals on tours? Any advice and suggesstions will be very helpful...

When are you going to be in St. Maarten? Joyce Prince is fantastic and rec. here a lot. Just your car load & you help pick what you want to see! Private vs. ship? Cost much less & more personal! [she's booked up way in advance.]

When my cousin and I were in St. Maarten we just went to the end of the pier where the taxis are, and got in a tour group from there. We were in a van with about 10 other people. We went over to the French side and went shopping, and then we went to the beach. This is an easy alternative to a private operator.

I agree that Joyce Prince is a wonderful way to go if you are looking for an extensive tour. She does get booked up early. Her contact info is Joyol1771@yahoo.com She does half and whole day tours but the half days are only in the morning now.

Depending on how many places you want to go just grabbing a cab may be better for you. Or, like one poster says just rent a car and get a nice map.

Marigot offers nice shopping but tends to be a little more expensive than the Dutch side.
