If that's 4 bags for 2+ people, no problem at all.

Solo? A bit awkward, but you'll definitely get a seat at YVR (first stop) so should also have time to make use of the underseat storage as efficiently as possible (the trains pause for several minutes after arriving before leaving - so worst case if the doors are about to close just wait for the next train to give yourself loads of time on the turnaround).

The only real issue will be if you are getting off before the other end of the line as you'll have to get your bags out and move through the other pax to the door - be vocal but polite and folks will get out of your way but the timing could be tricky with the automated doors unaware of you needing extra time for your bags... so I'd pay attention to the signs and announcements and get bags out at the previous stop to the one you want, so you can do that while the train is stationary then you only need to move to the door at your stop.

If you are going all the way to Waterfront everyone will get out again as that's the other terminus, so it's much easier to extricate bags and move off even if you're traveling at more of a peak time.

A vid on the train experience... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WYakRsp-e4k

Other factors to consider...

  • how far is the hotel from Canada Line station?  Use Google Maps to plan your post-train luggage drag.
  • Is your flight arriving between 3pm and 6pm when trains are super busy and congested?  Roads/bridges are congested too for taxi's.
  • Is your flight arriving after 9pm when the trains run once every 20 minutes?

Are you riding the train before 6:30pm on a weekday where the airport ride is $9.45 with the two zone and airport surcharge per person.

Depending on where you are staying... a cab ride can be $34 for door to door convenience.  https://www.yvr.ca/-/media/yvr/documents/transportation/20220415_yvr_2197_fare_stanchion_top-eng.pdf
