darkauf Posted June 1, 2004 #26 Share Posted June 1, 2004 On our cruise on the Pride...the famous "Mark" cruise, the ocean was like glass. I had to look out on the balcony to see if we were still moving. The last port, Cabo San Lucas, he did speed up to 23 knots and there were vibrations in the dining room. We were seated towards the back as one of the round tables of 6 in the middle so we did feel it but it was only the last two nights. In other parts of the ship, we felt nothing. We were Empress Deck and we always like sailing on that deck as we are in the middle of the ship and usually have the least amount of disturbance. This time we took an 8E - cabin 6220 and to the right of us, we had nothing but a wall outside on our extended deck. It was quiet and very private. kajsb Posted June 1, 2004 Author #27 Share Posted June 1, 2004 Thanks John! I love the cabin and the wrap around but I can do without the loud noise. Last night was okay and I hope it continues that way. The first night of almost no sleep really wiped me out. I went to the pursor's desk with a complaint and they sent me a basket of fruit. I was not impressed in fact I was insulted. As if I don't have all the fruit I already want at meals? I plan on an E-mail to Carnival when I return. Hopefully, I can find someone who has Bob Dickenson's E-mail address. Kathy 05/30/04 Carnival Pride cruise & the wraparound balcony 06/28/04 Ecstasy- Mom's 80th birthday- It's no longer a surprise!! kajsb Posted June 2, 2004 Author #28 Share Posted June 2, 2004 Darlene, the first night the vibration in our cabin was so bad that we had to unplug the telephone so we could move it off the headboard. Otherwise the phone was jumping around. Kathy 05/30/04 Carnival Pride cruise & the wraparound balcony 06/28/04 Ecstasy- Mom's 80th birthday- It's no longer a surprise!! candigirl41 Posted June 2, 2004 #29 Share Posted June 2, 2004 Kathy, I have posted my review of the Ecstasy. Sorry your first night on Pride was fretful. We had such a great time. Hope you have great port days. Candi
babies12 Posted June 2, 2004 #30 Share Posted June 2, 2004 Hi Kathy, I hope you are having fun. I'm now becoming a little concerned about your cabin since I have the same one booked. You last posted about e-mailing Bob Dickenson because you were not happy. Is it the room itself, etc., could you please elaborate a little more on that. I would hate to look so forward to my cruise with DH and only to find out that the suite I booked (which by the way received rave reviews) is actually lousy. Please keep me posted. Thanks!!! Till I sail away!
mayrashke Posted June 2, 2004 #31 Share Posted June 2, 2004 Kathy, Hope things are going quieter for you. Maybe having 1 or 2 drinks(if you drink alcohol) just before bedtime might help you sleep easier?? (I,too, am a light sleeper and always take earplugs with me wherever we go just in case. But sometimes they just do not work well.) Here is hoping your cruise is going great with your boyfriend.Time must be zooming by. kajsb Posted June 2, 2004 Author #32 Share Posted June 2, 2004 babies 12, The cabin and the balcony are wonderful- everything that you could ask for. The only problem is the horrible noise and vibration. It is much better now, but Barry still has a hard time sleeping. He hears more noise than I do. mayrashke, we tried earplugs didn't work. I would definitley get an aft wraparound again. But, I would try a higher deck to see if that helps on the horrible noise and vibration. I just think that now that I've had a wraparound, I would be disappointed with anything less. darkauf Posted June 3, 2004 #33 Share Posted June 3, 2004 Same thing happened to people on the Legend. They were on deck 4 and it vibrated constantly for 8 nights. The higher up you are in that area the better off you are. The farther away from the props, the less vibration. That is why you feel it so much in the dining room as the lower level of the dining room is right over them. Not a place I wish to book a cabin unless we were up on deck 7 or 8.
