Noordam or Nieuw Amsterdam

We’ve done close to 30 cruises but never on Holland America. Wanting to do Alaska and Holland looks best for us. So….Noordam or Nieuw Amsterdam? Which and why. Looking at the 11 or 12 land/sea tour.

The only reason I’d do the NA over the Noordam is because the NA has the Tamarind.  Other than that I’d choose by itinerary,

I agree that the itinerary is the deciding factor. We were on the Noordam for our 9 day land/sea package, as that was the only ship that went where we wanted to go. But as @HollDoll said, if the itineraries were equal, I'd chose the NA. We thought the food on the Noordam was passable, but have heard good things about the newer class ships.

Our 2 favorite ships are the Noordam and the Eurodam (same class as the Nieuw Amsterdam).  So for us it really comes down to itinerary.  So if the itinerary is the same, we would probably take the Signature class ship (Nieuw Amsterdam/Eurodam) over the Noordam.  Pretty much for the same reason as HollDoll above - the Tamarind.
