Carnival cruise credit

My husband and I had $1800 in credit from a cruise from hell on the Sunshine in 2019. We booked a cruise in Dec on the Venezia. Do we get VIFP points for the new cruise so we could become Platinum on this cruise or are there no added points due to this being a gratis credit cruise?

Yes you get points.  It is based on the number of days you sail not how it is paid for.
