Joy right after a dry dock. Would you chance this?

Having done a Transatlantic cruise in mid January from Southampton, I would not do another one in the Winter.

Dry docks usually end on time, however work has been known to continue during the first cruise out.

Your call, but I would not book it.

I did a TA on Cunard in January and it was  wonderful.  It all depends on what you want out of the trip I guess.  The ocean in January was beautiful. Seas were not that rough except for one night. A little rough is okay with me, after all you are in the middle of the ocean. The ship was not crowded. I was traveling solo. Loved it.

Thinking of celebrating retirement by taking a transatlantic on the Joy next Feb.  Looks like there's a dry dock being done in Europe just prior to this cruise then it's scheduled to leave Southampton for Miami. Have the dry docks mostly gone according to plan? I'm concerned if there's a delay, I end up stuck in Southampton or worse, the cruise gets cancelled.

I'm looking at the one just before it in January.

Avoid the last cruise before a dry dock and the first one after.  We had a TransAtlantic on the Getaway cut short so they could get to the dry dock two days ahead of schedule.  There have been many reports of ships coming out of dry dock late, cutting into the first scheduled cruise.  There even have been some reports of work continuing on board during a cruise.  Lots of dust, noise, and odors from fresh paint or adhesives.  No thanks.

So the Joy is only doing these two TAs to get to Europe and back from a dry dock?

Do please enlighten us...by the way, I'm sure anyone going to Morocco on a cruise ship will be just fine.

< Sorry for going off-topic not chatting about the Joy >  We just had positive confirmation via our best friends (CAS guests) that that Viva TA 11 days is "free" - apparently partnering with land casinos, that's pretty odd itself on a brand new ship on her first pond crossing.  Apparently, not "selling" well and they are doing what it might take, to fill up the cabins & get high rollers onboard, then upsell them & get the bidding games going.   Prices for cabin are dirt cheap even if not qualified for CAS discounts for an almost free cruise, LOL.

We're on, pre-Covid years, 2 different NCL ships with contractors onboard, putting the finishing touches on some of the onboard venues (work in progress, closed to passenger services, for your (in)convenience - while sailing to sustain ...)  One involved the changeover to American Diner, which wasn't a big deal ... Margaritaville, remember that on the BA/GA, etc.  Hanging up new signage or doing carpentry work, etc.  Hence, expect disruptions and less than full restoration of everything, right after a scheduled dry dock, no matter what's planned & precision timing promised, IMHO.

Oh, about those not-so-important bedside USB ports upgrade, it's apparently a costly & time-consuming project that NCL considered not high on the priority lists ... that was the chat during Dine with Officers, as the subject came up, different NCL ship.
