WexIrl Posted June 18, 2023 #1 Share Posted June 18, 2023 Good evening, I wish to explore the slots on the Getaway in our forth coming trip. I have zero knowledge of slots regardless of location, type etc. I have played on slots randomly over the years for limited time periods, but never a concentrated effort on them. Any tips for a newbie who will be allocating some time on the slots (apart from keeping the whistle wet!), would be greatly appreciated. Cheers! I'm not one to spend a lot of time in the casino onboard, I like playing slots but just don't seem to find a lot of time to do so. On the Getaway last month I played about an hour a day, sometimes a little more. I'm also not a big bettor so I usually bet in the 50 cent to a dollar range. First night I won this and did quite well on other machines betting small and had fun. Saw two people win jackpots also betting low, 50 cents. Husband bets bigger than me and mid way thru cruise said he had lost more than usual. Towards end he got a couple good bonuses that almost made up for his losses. It seemed to me the machines seemed to take some time playing at them before they started to pay out. I'm patient so I would wait it out, husband is impatient so if he didn't get results fast enough he moved on. Also found the casino pretty busy at night making it hard to get on my favorite machines. UKstages Posted June 18, 2023 #3 Share Posted June 18, 2023 there really are no tips for playing slots, other than money management. each spin on a slot machine is a random event. and any outcome is possible, but all outcomes are not equally likely. you could get a jackpot on every spin, because all outcomes are possible. but the way slot machines are programmed, particularly video slots with virtual reels, you are more likely to get a spin that pays nothing or less than your bet. most people lose most of the time. don't bet the rent money. enjoy yourself. it's entertainment.
WexIrl Posted June 19, 2023 Author #4 Share Posted June 19, 2023 Thanks for the replies. Indeed, I do understand they are programmed, and the probability of hitting a decent sequence is an outlier in the grand scheme of things etc. Also, having a go at the slots is purely for entertainment purposes and not an 'investment', il just wet the whistle and tap that button, and hopefully I will find a fishing themed one. Although I do prefer my hard earned beer tokens to last awhile longer if possible 😄
itsnotjustme Posted June 20, 2023 #5 Share Posted June 20, 2023 It's random, so there is no strategy. Play what you enjoy. The house always wins in the long term. Look around, you and your fellow gamblers are paying for all the machines, power, free drinks, employees, etc. Do not put in more than you are willing to spend for the entertainment value. If you want to cut your losses, the surefire way is to stop playing.

I agree, its a good call, but I consider anytime away from the 'outlaws' (aka in-laws) as winning regardless of cost! 1
WexIrl Posted July 4, 2023 Author #8 Share Posted July 4, 2023 Update: I went looking for a 'fish theme' slot and found one. I inserted a $20 note and a soon I had won $60.40 after many auto spins on a big win on screen. I cashed out and did not play another slot for the rest of the cruise 🤣
