Suggestions for Kiritimati, Kiribati (Christmas Island) shore excursions

I will be on Kiritimati for one day in October. I'm having difficulty in getting information on what to do there.  The cruise ship does not (so far) have any shore excursions.  I'm most interested in snorkeling.

We were there in 2011. It's just a small island with locals meeting and selling their handmade products on shore.  If I remember the story correctly HAL only stops there to re-supply the island. Apparently another cruise line did this but stopped and so HAL took it over.

So I was actually referring to Fanning Island. Not sure about Christmas Island. They are both part of Kiribati.  From google "Snorkeling and diving: Kiribati is home to some of the most beautiful coral reefs in the world.
