J&L~SetSail Posted June 30, 2023 #1 Share Posted June 30, 2023 I recall parts of the trail being muddy after you reach the top of the steps. Have there been any improvements? Thanks

fruitmachine Posted September 12, 2023 #3 Share Posted September 12, 2023 (edited) There are two routes. The path forks, with the right-hand fork exiting onto the residential road (Ashburnham Loan), and the older and original straight-on path continuing in the trees until it comes out at the main road, behind the bus shelter. If only heading into the city and you made the journey by train a few years ago, you may be interested to know that there has been quite an important change, and there is often a Lothian Buses X99 express bus which meets pax at the tender dock on certain dates and transfers them into the city and back again. Probably best to confirm you will actually tender into S. Queensferry on this website; https://www.cruiseforth.com/ check the "find my ship" for your Edinburgh location, then go to the "getting around" section on the same website for updated info on transferring to Edinburgh. And if the express bus interests you, google something like "Lothian buses cruiselink x99" to check if your date and ship is listed as having access to the bus. There are also some recent threads discussing this bus which you can find by using the SEARCH TOOL under your username. On the GENERAL B.Isles/W Med forum (not an individual thread) insert eg X99 inthe empty search box under your username then hit the little spy glass and previous threads with that reference should appear in the results ready for you to read. Of course, should you be planning a train journey to a different destination, none of the above will be of any interest to you whatsoever and you will be back walking the trail to Dalmeny!!
