skings Posted August 25, 2023 #1 Share Posted August 25, 2023 Hello, US citizen sailing first time MSC Virtuosa October 22, 2023 from Southampton. I wish to make a cash deposit instead of credit card on board ship. Will I need to change money to pounds before boarding or will MSC convert, and if I do not use whole deposit will cash returned to me be in pounds? Thanks I searched🥰 and couldnt find a thread to answer my question only that I can make a cash deposit at Guest Services.
SolentCruises Posted September 1, 2023 #2 Share Posted September 1, 2023 Hi there, you can either pay in cash only on the cruise ship or use a debit card (associated with your room card for your name). Unfortunately you cannot deposit money and only bringing the ships currency onboard will work (you can always get more if needed at ports)
Sancho_proudfoot Posted September 4, 2023 #3 Share Posted September 4, 2023 You can deposit cash onto your cruise card/onboard account. On Virtuosa there are machines ,( one to the left of Guest Services, two more on the deck immediately above) where instead of adding a credit/debit card you can add cash. It will take GBP £ or Euro € . Currently while the ship is homeported in Southampton the onboard currency is GBP - if you load Euros, it will take them but at a poor exchange rate. On the last night, go back to the same machine and it will refund any unused cash right down to the last penny/cent.
