Status match question: Hilton vs Marriott

I’m posting this for a friend who is trying to status match before his first MSC cruise.

 

Can anyone tell me whether Marriott Bonvoy Platinum Elite or Hilton Honors Gold will match higher status on Voyagers Club?

 

The last status match table I saw seemed to indicate that Hilton was better.  
 

Just wanted to make sure so my friend can get the best possible experience.

Thank you for this information!  I have two MSC cruises coming up after having taken one but I have some of the 'status' with several hotels and casinos so I'll see what I can get.  Much appreciated!
