Big Bastards Beach Bar

We just got off the NCL Breakaway with a stop at St. Martin. We booked a day at Big Bastards Beach Bar and can’t speak highly enough of the experience. It is on Great Bay, a 5 minute $6.00 taxi ride from the ship. For $30.00 we got two comfortable lounge chairs ocean front, umbrella and 5 beers included. Value was excellent and the facilities well appointed. The beach is beautiful and we were attended to by owner Steve who couldn’t do enough. I highly recommend the experience. We booked online in advance and was set up on the beach minutes after arrival. Blazing fast WiFi included on the beach was a bonus.   We will repeat on our next cruise.

We just booked this for our January cruise for our grand daughter would like to book it for ourselves as well although hubby has mobility issues with walking. How far to pick up a taxi and then walk to this place. I thought about taking the water taxi if that is better.

Can you book day of or do you need to book ahead of time? Also I’ve seen people say take a water taxi and others say take a cab? Which is best? Ty

We just got back and took the water taxi so easy as soon as you get off the water taxi turn right walk maybe a minute and it's right there. Water taxi only 7.00 a person round trip. Would recommend this place highly ver friendly and very help. We booked in advance. It was busy many cruisers were there.

You don't. There is a booth in the port 7.00 per person round trip. You can come and go as often as you want for 7.00  We had no issues just paid then walked down to where we picked it up. You can also pay at the water taxi itself if you miss the booth didn't realize that till we got to the water taxi.

Like all restrooms on Great Bay, it’s down to one’s interpretation of an acceptable level of clean….  Personally, one passes…….COCO’s are “clean” by one’s personal interpretation, hence one of the reasons to visit.

But, each to their own…..

Do you have a certain amount of time there?  When I look I see time slots so didn't know if you were allotted a certain amount and then have to leave.

You just have to pick a time your going to check in and then you can stay there until they close or until you leave to go back to the ship. I left to go shopping downtown although my hubby stayed behind to stay with our stuff.

Can I just go and pay at the bar without a reservation? We have 14 people and this would be a last minute deal.

I haven't been there yet. We are going in November. I have been to St. Marteen 7 or 8 times before, but we have never went to Big Bastards.

Was there a constant stream of vendors selling their items constantly approaching people? We had that happen once and left because we could not read or just sit and relax without  constant interruptions.

To avoid annoying interruptions, consider COCO…… A much better venue and ambiance.

Contact COCO to book one’s day (including beds) and lunch in advance.
