sbaker Posted December 26, 2023 #1 Share Posted December 26, 2023 Our upcoming cruise in June starts in Oslo. We're looking at spending several days in Oslo prior to the cruise. We've never been there and its always been high on our bucket list. Do any of you have recommendations for a good hotel? We want something nice but don't need fancy or high end. We're looking for something reasonably priced that has good access to sites of interest and public transportation.
hallasm Posted December 26, 2023 #2 Share Posted December 26, 2023 (edited) In Oslo look for Scandic Oslo City, Thon Hotel Opera, Strawberry Comfort Central or Strawberry Amerikalinien - all hotels close to the Central Station. Convenient to take the train from airport to Central Station. Edited December 26, 2023 by hallasm
kaisatsu Posted December 26, 2023 #3 Share Posted December 26, 2023 I agree with hallasm. Any hotel close to Oslo S (central station) will be convenient for getting around. The main city center stretches out immediately west of the station hall, and there are plenty of hotels in the area just west of the station. Everything from the self-service CityBox on up, depending on your price limits. Download the Ruter app to buy local transit tickets. The app also includes route planning and real-time departure times.
Capt_BJ Posted December 26, 2023 #4 Share Posted December 26, 2023 (edited) Thon chain is sort of the Holiday Inn of Norway ... reliable, clean, safe. There are a couple walking distance from the train station - in addition to 'opera house'. We used Thon Terminus .... Radisson Blu is right there too ....
