After traveling  for 15 years I just noticed that this was available on MVJ Air Preferences. Has anybody had experience with this?

Not specifically with MVJ but airlines and airports offer this. You need to inform the airline so that is probably what Viking Air is doing.

On a trip last year I had an injured knee, making a connection in Frankfurt where the distances are crazy. Frankfurt requires an advanced reservation for the service. I was using Viking Air but I never checked the box. I contacted the airline and they asked if I also needed assistance boarding or just help getting to the gate. Upon landing, we were whisked on a cart to a special line for passport control, walked through, then put on another cart, and taken to the gate.

Personally, If I need this again, I would contact the airline myself.

I always check box for air assistance at all times.  Not handicapped, but when connecting thru a large unfamiliar airport, I appreciate the service to be taken to next gate.

On a recent voyage, connected in MSP.  At arrival gate, cart was waiting and took us to next gate, a long long distance.  Very helpful and stress free.

I did not request thru airline, so suspected V arranged it.

I agree. Getting through MSP for a connecting flight is a very, very long walk. We used assistance when we returned to the USA by Boston Logan. We had to change from Terminal E to Terminal A.

Had to take bus from plane to Terminal E,  go though Passport control, claim luggage in Terminal E lower lever, recheck luggage in Terminal E upper level, then go to lower level to wait for bus to transport us to Terminal A.

I will never complain about our home airport Atlanta.

Slightly different, but at the beginning of this year, we were on a Viking Cruise that ended in Rome (we actually spent an extra 4 days on our own in Rome.)

Anyway (LOL), we had air reservations through Viking Air and a relatively tight (but not outrageous) transit in Frankfurt.  We were surprised to find a rep holding a Viking sign with our names on it as we exited the gangway.  He escorted to our connecting gate.  Nice touch even though we probably didnt need it. He said he was there because of the transit time.

We were traveling with two seniors, and they contacted the airline directly for transit assistance and had no issues with that.  They were gone and one their way to the gate ahead of us.  LOL
